The 2026 Vauxhall Frontera is intended to be a more affordable option, and Vauxhall is making some effort to create “price parity” between the hybrid and electric models. Thanks to the UK government subsidy for electric vehicles, the standard EV has a lower starting price than a comparable hybrid model. As with other Vauxhall models, the Frontera comes with a three-year/60,000-mile warranty. The electric battery is covered for eight years/100,000 miles.

2026 Vauxhall Frontera : Interior

Inside, the 2026 Vauxhall Frontera prioritizes space, durability, and essential technology over high-end comfort, reflecting its position as a budget-friendly family SUV. The Frontera cabin layout is practical and simple, with Vauxhall’s “Pure Panel” design combining two 10-inch digital screens for the driver’s instrument cluster and central entertainment system across all trim levels. These screens come standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as wireless phone charging. The materials used throughout the cabin are durable and designed to last, rather than having a soft finish, which is a deliberate decision by Vauxhall to control production costs.

The 2026 Frontera Vauxhall offers plenty of sleeping and legroom for five passengers, and the hybrid models offer a seven-seat configuration to choose from for larger families. Storage options are plentiful, including large door pockets, a large glove box, and a nice rubber shelf on top of the center console for holding phones and other small items. Frontera voot capacity is impressive for its class, starting at 460 liters with the rear seats in place and increasing to a generous 1,600 liters when folded, ensuring plenty of space for luggage, groceries, or bulky items.

2026 Vauxhall Frontera : Engine

The Vauxhall Frontera is offered with two main engine options: a mild hybrid petrol and a full battery-electric version. The hybrid model has a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which works in conjunction with a 21 kW (28 horsepower) electric motor. The system uses a 48-volt battery and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. There are two mild hybrid power outputs: a 100 PS (99 bhp) version and a more powerful 136 PS (134 bhp) version. At low speeds and when towing, the electric motor provides power to the petrol engine, improving efficiency. The system can also temporarily power the car on electric power only at very low speeds, such as when driving slowly in the city.

The second option is the fully electric Frontera, powered by a 113 PS (111 bhp) electric motor that drives the front wheels. This electric version comes with a choice of two battery sizes. The standard model is equipped with a 44 kWh battery, which provides a WLTP range of 186 miles. For those who need more range, an Extended Range version is available with a larger 54 kWh battery, which increases the official WLTP range to 253 miles. Both electrical models support DC fast charging up to 100 kW, allowing a charge from 20 to 80% in about 26 to 28 minutes, depending on the size of the battery.

2026 Vauxhall Frontera : Safety

The 2026 Vauxhall Frontera is equipped with a healthy range of safety and driver assistance features, although it has not yet been tested by Euro NCAP. Standard equipment on all models includes automatic emergency braking with forward collision warning, lane keep assist, road sign recognition, driver attention monitoring, cruise control, reversing camera, and rear parking sensors. Moving up to the GS trim adds extra features, such as blind spot monitoring and front parking sensors. 2026 Vauxhall Frontera passive safety systems include front, side, and curtain airbags for the front and second row seats, as well as an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability program (ESP), and hill start assist.
