2026 Subaru Legacy
The 2026 Subaru Legacy is a mid-size compact car from the Japanese transportation company Subaru Corporation. The 2026 Subaru Legacy models will focus on comfort, safety, and all-weather capability, setting it apart from the SUV market. The Subaru Legacy features a refreshed exterior with a wider grille and smaller LED headlights, as well as a refreshed interior with improved audio and heating technology, including a larger touchscreen infotainment system on some models. The 2026 Legacy is expected to combine classic design elements with modern technology and off-road capability.
All Subaru Legacy models come standard with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and the latest generation of EyeSight Driver Assistance Technology, which now includes advanced sensors and object recognition. The Legacy offers two engine options: a standard 2.5-liter flat-four and a more powerful 2.4-liter turbocharged flat-four on higher trims. Its refined ride, spacious cabin, and comprehensive safety suite make it a practical and reliable choice for everyday driving.
2026 Subaru Legacy : Interior
Inside, the 2025 Subaru Legacy features a practical, comfortable, and well-equipped cabin, designed with user-friendliness in mind. The layout of the dashboard and controls is streamlined, allowing for a balanced mix of modern technology and easy-to-use physical buttons, especially for climate control. The interior is very spacious, offering nearly 106 cubic feet of passenger capacity and plenty of legroom for front and rear passengers. Depending on the trim, the cabin features premium materials, such as soft-touch plastics, new metallic trim accents, and contrast stitching in key touch points. Redesigned front seats offer improved lumbar support and lateral support, while revised cushioning provides improved comfort for rear passengers. The cabin is also designed for improved quietness, with additional sound-absorbing materials and tempered glass for a refined ride.
Technology in the Legacy focuses on the SUBARU STARLINK® Multimedia system, with an 11.6-inch touchscreen as the centerpiece for multiple calls. The system features faster processing, improved graphics, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Higher trims add built-in navigation and a Harman Kardon premium sound system. In addition, the Subaru Legacy had multiple USB-C charging ports, and wireless device charging was available. On higher trims like the Touring XT, features such as Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and a 180-degree front view monitor were included.
2026 Subaru Legacy : Engine
Subaru Legacy engines were a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter flat-four boxer and a turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-four. Subaru’s focus shifted to producing popular SUV models like the Forester and Outback, and it was announced in April 2024 that the Legacy would be discontinued after 2025. Therefore, any information or discussion about the 2026 Legacy’s engine is based on speculation or the engine options for the final model year. The final production Legacy offered a choice of a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter flat-four, standard on lower trims, and a turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-four on higher trims.

The 2.5-liter engine produced 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, providing smooth and consistent power delivery with a focus on fuel efficiency. For drivers looking for more performance, the available 2.4-liter turbocharged engine provided a significant boost, producing 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. Both engines were mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and were available only with Subaru’s optional all-wheel drive system.
2026 Subaru Legacy : Safety
The 2026 Subaru Legacy is known for its comprehensive safety package, supported by standard EyeSight Driver Assistance Technology, which uses a combination of cameras to monitor the road and intervene when necessary. The suite includes advanced adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane departure and sway warning, and lane keep assist. The sedan’s strong Circular Reinforced Frame provided better crash protection by absorbing and directing impact forces away from the cabin. Additionally, available on higher trims were safety features such as the DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System, which used facial recognition to monitor the driver’s attention, as well as blind spot detection with lane-change assistance and rear cross-traffic alert. The Legacy’s safety performance has earned top marks from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
