The 2023 Opel Astra is a compact small family car developed and manufactured by Opel. The 2023 Opel Astra has a striking appearance, a much-improved interior, and a larger trunk, with limited rear legroom. The Vauxhall Astra is a stylish and refined family hatchback that defies alternatives like the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus. The 2023 Astra has remained as popular as it has been throughout this time, and Vauxhall hopes this latest version can continue that tradition. Astra will have to compete with impressive rivals such as the Ford Focus, Mazda 3, Seat Leon, and Volkswagen Golf. The closely related Peugeot 308 is also very hot with deliveries in the UK.

All versions of the 2023 Astra Opel feature a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, while the response is fast enough, the home screen uses a simple grid layout to help you quickly find the function you want. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring is available on all models, but it’s best to use the built-in satellite navigation if you want to see instructions on the driver display. The voice control program is designed to recognize everyday expressions.

2023 Opel Astra : Interior

The Opel Astra 2023 has a premium-looking and soulful interior with a dashboard dominated by a seven or eight-inch touchscreen. The Astra feels a bit aging despite a slight refresh in 2019. It feels functional, ergonomically solid, and built to last, but with the quality of a Volkswagen Golf, the style of a Mazda 3, or the great infotainment system of a Ford Focus or Kia Ceed. It’s not terrible by any means though and remains a comfortable place to spend time, especially on high-spec versions. The Opel interior has also been impressive lately, with a sleek, easy-to-use line and quality materials used.

The Astra 2023 takes this one step further with powerful technology, all powered by an intuitive seven or eight-inch touchscreen. It sits neatly in a classy piano black frame that stretches across the width of the dash and is underlined by a stylish chrome-effect piece. Among the main instruments, there is also an information display and the graphics are nice and clear.

Astra features 360-degree parking sensors and a self-parking system along with LED headlights – standard on the oddly smaller Corsa, but not here. There are also heated and ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, and a premium Bose stereo. All 2023 Astra models come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, while higher-end models have a larger eight-inch touchscreen.

2023 Opel Astra : Engine

2023 Opel Astra will be equipped with a six-speed manual, a nine-speed automatic, or, depending on trim level, four petrol engines and two types of diesel, available with a CVT. The turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder trio, producing 108 hp, 128 hp, and 143 hp, stands out in the petrol range. There’s also a 1.4-liter three-cylinder engine that produces the same 143 hp as the highest-powered 1.2-liter engine, but with more torque and only equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Low emissions will appeal particularly to fleet users, while 0-62mph times of nine seconds mean no sag. Our preferred engines are diesel, badged Turbo D, and 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder producing 104bhp or 120bhp.

Vauxhall claims that the 1.2-liter petrol versions (110PS, 130PS, and 145PS) emit 119g/km of CO2, while WLTP figures show average efficiency of up to 54.3mpg. Automatics are also good. The CVT-equipped, 143bhp 1.4-liter engine manages 50.4mpg with CO2 emissions from 129g/km, while the most powerful 1.5-liter diesel automatic version returns up to an average of 56.5mpg and emits 133g/km of CO2.

2023 Opel Astra : Safety

The Opel Astra has Electronic Stability Control as standard equipment, along with a seat belt reminder system for the front and rear seats. The autonomous emergency braking system was included in the evaluation as it is an option expected to be widely sold. Its performance in Euro NCAP tests was sufficient. Standard safety equipment varies depending on the equipment level you choose. The design includes lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, speed sign recognition, and hill start assist. GS Line adds traffic sign recognition and a forward collision warning system that works at any speed. The 2023 Opel Astra Ultimate includes lane positioning and lane change assistance, as well as blind spot monitoring, intelligent speed adaptation, and a 360-degree parking camera.
