The 2024 Isuzu D-Max is a pickup truck manufactured by Isuzu Motors. The 2024 Isuzu D-MAX comes with the legendary ISUZU engine that delivers incredible power and performance efficiency to tackle the toughest terrains. Fortunately for Isuzu, safety is a strength of D-Max. 2024 D-Max has smart autonomous driving aids that you might find hard to find in some luxury cars, and this helps it get five stars, the highest possible score under the latest Euro NCAP crash test regime.
The extreme Isuzu D-Max version is equipped with huge lumpy tires, wider arches, and a 50mm lift kit to handle it all. Isuzu gives you two- and four-wheel drive options, and there’s also an automatic transmission option. In other words, the D-Max should have everything it needs to go head-to-head with rivals like the Ford Ranger, Ssangyong Musso, and Toyota Hilux.
2024 Isuzu D-Max : Interior
Inside, the Isuzu D-Max 2024 models have some soft-touch plastic over the dash, and there are painted trim accents around the gear lever, infotainment screen, and door cards on high-end versions to visually lift things up. All buttons and toggles feel very solid, although the center armrest is a bit flimsy. All buttons and toggles feel very solid, although the center armrest is a bit flimsy. If you want the best quality, we point you to the Ranger Wildtrack, which Ssangyong Musso also impresses.
A 7.0-inch infotainment system comes standard on DL40 D-Max models, and there’s an upgraded 9.0-inch version reserved for the ultimate V-Cross. It responds quickly enough to your commands, but the graphics are not particularly attractive and not as intuitive as the system you’ll find in a Ford Ranger. Sat-nav isn’t standard even on the most expensive V-Cross model. Fortunately, you get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring so you can bypass Isuzu. system completely.
2024 Isuzu D-Max : Engine
The Isuzu D-Max comes with a 162bhp 1.9-liter diesel engine. That may not be enough, but even in its bulkiest double-cab form, it can carry a heavier maximum load than the equivalent Ford Ranger. Isuzu pulls the engine out of the low rev range, but it quickly wears out. It doesn’t feel slower than an entry-level Toyota Hilux, but the most powerful versions of it and the Ranger hit highway speeds much faster. The D-Max also has a very short first gear on manual models, and the six-speed automatic hesitates before shifting into gear.
2024 Isuzu D-Max : Safety
The 2024 D-Max is the best of the bunch in terms of safety, receiving a full five stars from Euro NCAP. Hilux also has five stars, but it has been tested under the legacy regime and its security software is not as comprehensive as that of D-Max. Automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane-keeping assistance, and traffic sign recognition are standard on the D-Max range, while dual-cab models offer blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. If you switch to an automatic 2024 D-Max, the standard cruise control is upgraded to an adaptive version that will keep you at a distance from the vehicle in front.
