The 2026 Tesla Model 2 is the unofficial name used by the media for the highly anticipated, affordable electric vehicle that Tesla has been developing, even though CEO Elon Musk has said that specific name will not be used. This would be an RWD model with fewer premium features and a smaller LFP battery. A fully autonomous Cybercab, a two-seater vehicle with no steering wheel or pedals, is designed for a future robotic taxi service. The vehicle is scheduled to enter volume production in 2026. This means that a cheaper Tesla is in the works, but it is unlikely to be a traditional consumer car like the Model 2.

The motors are expected to use rare earth materials and 75% less silicon carbide, significantly reducing manufacturing costs. While power figures won’t be as high as performance models, the focus of the car’s design is on improved efficiency in everyday use, allowing for a practical driving range of around 250-300 miles from a smaller, cheaper battery.
