2026 Subaru BRZ : Engine

The 2026 Subaru BRZ is powered by a 2.4-liter, horizontally opposed, naturally aspirated SUBARU BOXER® engine that produces 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The flat-bed “boxer” engine configuration allows it to be mounted low and far back in the chassis, contributing to a low center of gravity and excellent balance. This design choice is essential to the car’s renowned sharp handling and driver-focused feel.

Engine power is delivered to the rear wheels via a standard 6-speed manual gearbox, which is paired with a TORSEN® limited-slip differential for maximum driver involvement. A finely tuned 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters is also available as an option on the Limited trim. This powertrain offers plenty of acceleration for a fun and responsive driving experience, and the manual version is typically slightly quicker in acceleration tests than the automatic version. A dedicated “Sport” mode, available on all trims, greatly improves throttle response for more active driving.

2026 Subaru BRZ : Safety

The 2026 Subaru BRZ prioritizes safety with a comprehensive suite of active and passive features. For the first time, full EyeSight® Driver Assistance technology is standard on all trim levels, including those with a manual transmission, a significant update for the model year. The system includes advanced features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, and Lead Vehicle Start Warning. In addition, all models feature a strong Circle Shape Reinforcement Frame for enhanced crash protection, side airbags, a driver knee airbag, and a rearview camera. Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert is also standard, greatly improving driver awareness and confidence.
