The 2023 Jeep Commander XK and 2023 Jeep XH is a mid-size SUV produced by the Jeep division of American manufacturer Chrysler. The 2023 Jeep Commander took everything good about the automaker Grand Cherokee, added more passenger capacity, and penned a design that is arguably a true Jeep SUV. Jeep showed off a concept car called the Commander during the 1999 auto show. The concept featured an experimental direct methanol fuel cell that generates electricity to charge a nickel-metal hydride battery pack. Full-time all-wheel drive was provided by a heavy-duty electric motor on each axle.

The suspension can be raised 4 inches for off-road purposes. The overall style influenced the development of the third-generation Grand Cherokee, which was six years away at the time. The concept car was the same height as the production Grand Cherokees but was about 8 inches wider. This allowed for an interior with an extra-wide center console at the front and three round seats in the second row. The Commander concept had nothing to do with SUV production.
