2017 Hyundai Elantra Limited is not new from the ground up, a pretty powerful refresh for the Korean compact. This engine is available both with a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic. Stamp to the limited means you lose the manual option. Gone are the 1.8L base engine of the previous model. Like its siblings, the 2017 HyundaiElantra received an Eco model. The Eco sports a 1.4L turbocharged GDI engine makes 128 horsepower and 156 lb-ft of torque. This engine is available exclusively with Hyundai’s seven-speed, dual clutch gearbox.

The updated 2017 Hyundai Elantra Limited is longer, wider and wears a suit more like the refreshed Sonata’s the car it replaces. This is not a case where you have to squint and turn your head sideways to find out what sex you look at. The fundamentals will be almost identical, but there is no doubt one of the other outside. The look is clearly new. The new look starts at the front door, where the Elantra inherits the Genesis-inspired hexagonal grille appear on most Hyundai. Limited models also get LED fog lights, giving the Elantra watch an aggressive front.
In profile, the Elantra ditches the old car’s aesthetic swooped in exchange for a more angular look. If we look at it from the side, it cuts a figure that is a blend of the Audi A3 and Ford Focus sedans. 2017 Elantra Limited is very unique, but it certainly looks good. Only in the back, not the Elantra looks highly similar to its predecessor. The Limited’s LED tail is a dead giveaway, but lower-trim cars can be difficult to identify at a glance.

Hyundai’s renovation expanded into the interior too, not only a new look but find some new feature content. Especially, the seats have been revised, and for the better. They are more supportive and comfortable, and despite the presence of roofs in all our testers, provided enough adjustment and forehead clearance. Another neat feature on the higher finish is a hands-free smart strain. Dual USB charging and available seat memory are also new.
To our eyes, the only disappointing interior feature was the door card, which even in our range-topping Limited / Ultimate Package Tester is formed from hard plastic. Only the armrest portion of the interior door panel is covered with the soft touch. This is a small problem, but in a car as otherwise rich in niceties, it’s a significant omission.
Elsewhere, you’ll have a few firsts for the 2017 Elantra. The basic display is updated on a 7-inch unit with an 8-inch option for Nav-equipped cars. Android Auto and Apple Carplay are now both fully supported and the infotainment system is now running on Hyundai’s next-gen Blue Link platform, and an eight-speaker Infinity sound system is available to back up all that attractive glass. Hyundai also used the opportunity to upgrade the Elantra’s suite of advanced safety features. Lane departure warning and lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and help track changes are all available with a reverse camera with dynamic guidelines.

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra Limited SE was named on 29 mpg city, 38 highway and 33 combined when linked to automatic. Manual transmission models rated 26 mpg city, 36 highway and 31 together. Limited models (only automatic, but equipped with larger wheels / tires), split the difference at 28 mpg city, 37 highway and 32 together. The Eco model will not be visible until the 2nd quarter to be so the numbers are not only, but Hyundai is banking combined 35 mpg.
Hyundai also unibody and suspension thorough once-overs. New bracing, additional high-strength steel and more widespread use of structural adhesives lead to a more rigid body without any decrease in weight. The electric power steering also helps retuned for more direct and feel responsive, and rear suspension has been updated.
