2026 Opel Frontera
The 2026 Opel Frontera is an affordable and spacious small SUV available with hybrid and all-electric powertrains. The 2026 Opel Vauxhall Manga GTE replaces the Opel Crossland, offering a practical design focused on efficiency and value for money. Opel Frontera comes with a choice of mild-hybrid powertrains, including a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine, or a 100% electric version with a 44 kWh battery, allowing for electric-only city driving in some models. The 2026 Opel Manta-e mild-hybrid system allows for short-distance driving on electric power alone, and Opel says it can run on electric power for up to 50% of city driving under the right conditions.
The 2026 Opel Frontera interior features with digital cockpit with two 10-inch screens and wireless smartphone connectivity, while the cabin offers ample space for five passengers in an optional seven-seat layout, as well as 1,600 liters of cargo capacity with the rear seats folded. Available in trim levels such as the base ‘Edition’ and the top-spec ‘GS’, the Frontera offers modern features and a comfortable ride for families on a budget.
2026 Opel Frontera : Interior
The 2026 Opel Frontera has a spacious and functional interior designed for family functionality. The “Pure Panel” dominates the dashboard, with two 10-inch screens for the digital instrument system and a touchscreen entertainment system. Despite the larger screens, it retains the physical buttons for climate control, and connectivity is modern with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Five-passenger seating can be arranged as standard, or optionally in a seven-seat configuration, while higher-spec models add comfort features such as heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
The cabin prioritizes smart storage and comfort, with features such as special “Intelli-Seat” front seats designed to reduce pressure on the tailbone during long journeys. Practical storage solutions include a center console with an adjustable tablet-protecting strap, open storage areas lined with rubber to prevent wear, and rear seat pockets for smartphones. The luggage compartment is the largest for a vehicle of its size, offering 460 liters, and with the rear seats up and folded down, expanding to an impressive 1,600 liters.
2026 Opel Frontera : Engine
The 2026 Opel Frontera offers customers a choice of mild hybrid and full electric powertrains, both fully connected to an automatic transmission for a smooth drive. The mild hybrid uses a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with 48-volt technology. The system combines the engine with a 21 kW (28 hp) electric motor and an electric six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Frontera is available in two output versions: a basic 74 kW (100 hp) option and a more powerful 100 kW (136 hp). The mild hybrid setup allows the vehicle to drive on electric power alone for short distances, significantly reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions compared to conventional engines.
For buyers who want to drive without emissions, the Opel Frontera Electric has a fully electric powertrain powered by a battery. 2026 Frontera has an 83 kW (113 hp) electric motor and a 44 kWh rechargeable battery. A long-range version with a larger 54 kWh battery and an estimated range of 400 km (WLTP) is also available. The electric model supports 100 kW DC fast charging, enabling the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in approximately 28 minutes. Both engine options support driving comfort, with a strong focus on efficiency and suitability for city and long-distance driving.
2026 Opel Frontera : Safety
The 2026 Opel Frontera features a comprehensive suite of safety features designed to enhance occupant protection and enhance driver awareness. All models come standard with advanced driver assistance systems such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Drowsiness Alert, Speed Sign Recognition, and Forward Collision Warning. Top-of-the-line models, such as the GS, add Blind Spot Monitoring and front parking sensors to the mix, building on the standard rear parking sensors and rearview camera available on base models. Other safety equipment includes Intelli-LED headlights with automatic high beam assist, a full airbag system, and Hill Start Assist. Although the car had not yet undergone Euro NCAP safety testing at the end of 2025, the extensive list of standard safety technologies suggests a solid safety foundation for the affordable family SUV.
