2026 Renault 5
The 2026 Renault 5 Turbo 3E is a rear-wheel-drive “mini-supercar” by Renault. The 2026 Renault 5 comes with a special track-focused homologation that pays homage to the iconic Group B racers of the 1980s. Unlike the front-wheel-drive model platform, the Turbo 3E is built on a bespoke, rear-mounted 800V electric architecture featuring a carbon-fiber body and tubular chassis.
The Renault 5 Turbo has two electric motors mounted at each rear wheel, producing 555 hp and 4,800 Nm of torque. With its extensive kit, motorsport-inspired interior, and multiple off-road driving modes, including a drift setting, the Turbo 3E is a practical and luxurious car that prioritizes a raw and thrilling driving experience. The first deliveries are due in 2027, and the price tag is expected to be higher than the standard E-Tech model.
2026 Renault 5 : Interior
Inside, the Renault 5 interior is a modern version of the classic tartan fabric from the original R5 Turbo. Dashboard is greeted by an intelligent infotainment system with a digital instrument cluster that cleverly mimics 1980s box dials, but with modern Google connectivity like connectivity. The bright yellow, rally-style vertical handbrake lever sits in the center of the console, a clear indication of the car’s purpose for controlled drifting.
Other track-friendly equipment includes six-point safety harnesses, a full-length ride cage, and heavy use of carbon fiber for rigidity. Another fun and arcade-inspired feature is the first “coin insertion” process, which gives off a fun and energetic vibe. The overall result is a cabin that’s powerful enough for track day operations and delightfully retro-futuristic in its design.
2026 Renault 5 : Engine
The limited edition Renault 5 Turbo 3E features a highly advanced, all-electric powertrain that redefines the concept of an engine for this modern utility vehicle. Instead of a traditional internal combustion engine, the car uses powerful electric motors, with a motor at each rear wheel. The new, axleless design delivers 555 hp (410 kW) and 4,800 Nm of torque to the rear wheels, ensuring quick acceleration and efficient power delivery. The motors are powered by a lightweight 70 kWh lithium-ion battery underneath.

The battery operates on an 800V racing architecture, which allows fast DC charging up to 350 kW, allowing it to charge from 15% to 80% in about 15 minutes. The state-of-the-art electric system allows the car to accelerate from 0-100 mph in less than 3.5 seconds, delivering a level of performance that surpasses that of its iconic 1980s predecessor.
2026 Renault 5 : Safety
The limited edition Renault 5 Turbo 3E prioritizes road safety features over conventional road car systems. Renault’s core safety architecture includes a rigid carbon fiber monocoque and a full inner roll cage to protect the top structure. Passengers are strapped into racing bucket seats with six-point harnesses, and a hydraulic rally handbrake provides more control during high-performance driving. Additionally, a QR code on the rear window allows emergency services to quickly scan and access vital vehicle information, such as electrical components, in the event of an accident. During highway driving, the driver can enable or disable advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), but the 2026 Renault 5 turbo’s primary safety feature of the vehicle is driver control with engine control and passenger restraint.
