2027 Honda Odyssey : Engine
The North American Honda Odyssey is powered by a powerful 3.5-liter J-series V6 engine that has served as the base power unit since 1999. This SOHC, 24-valve, 60-degree aluminum block and head engine is renowned for its durability and smooth power delivery, typically producing 250-280 horsepower and 250-262 lb-ft of torque depending on the model year. Key technologies in this engine include Honda’s VTEC valvetrain for improved efficiency and Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) that can partially shut down cylinders to improve fuel economy when driving at low loads.
The 2027 Odyssey features direct injection technology, providing more torque and higher efficiency throughout its operating range. These engines are mated to a 9- or 10-speed automatic transmission, replacing the previous 5- and 6-speed units; the 10-speed transmission is now standard on newer models for improved acceleration. In terms of maintenance, the engine is designed to run on regular unleaded gasoline and operates on a timing belt system that typically requires replacement every 100,000 miles. While the North American Honda Odyssey (minivan) uses a V6 engine, the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) and other international markets typically use 4-cylinder engines, including 2.2L, 2.3L, and 2.4L options; these options are not included in this overview.
2027 Honda Odyssey : Safety
The Honda Odyssey is consistently recognized as a safety leader in the minivan segment, earning top awards including the IIHS “Top Safety Choice+” award and a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Rating from the NHTSA. It achieves this high level of protection by incorporating a standard Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure designed to dissipate crash forces, eight standard airbags, and a comprehensive Honda Sensing® driver assistance technology package. The 2027 Honda Odyssey standard safety features across all trim levels include collision avoidance braking, lane keeping assist, rollover prevention, and adaptive cruise control, providing superior protection for families.
