2026 Alfa Romeo Junior
The 2026 Alfa Romeo Junior is a new compact SUV that offers hybrid and fully electric powertrains, combining Italian style with advanced technology. The Alfa Romeo Junior 2026 is available with multiple trim levels, such as the Ibrida, Elettrica, Sprint, and the sporty Sport Speciale. The 2026 Junior is available with hybrid (Ibrida) and electric (Elettrica) powertrains, built on the shared Stellantis eCMP2 platform. The Alfa Romeo Junior has an Italian-style design and comes with modern technology, including two 10.25-inch screens and various driver assistance systems.
The powertrain options include a 1.2-liter turbocharged mild hybrid engine and a 115 kW electric model with a 54 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 407 km. The Alfa Romeo Junior offers a variety of trim options, from leather/cloth to premium options on higher trims. Alfa Romeo Junior features such as aluminum pedals and ambient lighting are also available. The 2026 line offers a standard line of packages and some trims, including Sprint and Ti versions, for customization.
The Alfa Romeo Junior is primarily a European and Australian market vehicle, built in Poland. The Alfa Romeo Junior was not originally designed for the US market. However, Alfa Romeo is exploring the possibility of offering an EV version (specifically the Veloce model) in selected states to gauge interest. The small size and manufacturing footprint (which affects EV tax credits) pose challenges for a full US launch.
2026 Alfa Romeo Junior : Interior
Inside, the Alfa Romeo Junior has a driver-oriented cabin that combines classic Italian style with modern technology, highlighted by two 10.25-inch screens for the instrument cluster and the entertainment system. The cabin is designed to be attractive, with the central touchscreen angled 11 degrees towards the driver for optimal visibility. The interior features typical Alfa Romeo design elements such as the cannocchiale instrument cluster and clover-shaped air vents, the latter with an illuminated biscione logo on upper trims. Interior ambience is further enhanced by adjustable eight-colour ambient lighting. The standard models come with “Spiga” seats that combine black cloth and leather with red accents, and are available with premium options such as perforated Alcantara upholstery and Sabelt racing-inspired seats on Sport and Sport Speciale trims.
The Alfa Romeo Junior is well equipped with a range of features aimed at convenience and a premium experience. Standard amenities include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminum pedals and door sills, heated front seats, a driver’s seat heating function, and a wireless charging pad in the center console. The entertainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and integrates with Alfa Connected Services for navigation and other features. Efficiency is taken care of with a power-operated tailgate and flexible cargo area, as well as a hybrid model offering 415 liters of boot space and an electric version offering 400 litres. Despite the high-end features, some reviewers note the use of hard plastics in some areas, although the high-end trim mitigates this with soft-touch materials and Alcantara.
2026 Alfa Romeo Junior : Engine
Alfa Romeo Junior 2026 is available with two main powertrain options: a mild hybrid system based on a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine and a full electric system powered by a 54 kWh battery. The hybrid engine works in conjunction with a 48-volt, 21 kW electric motor mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, providing a combined output of 107 kW (145 hp) and 230 Nm of torque to the front wheels. This setting allows for short periods of electric-only driving at low speeds or during parking manoeuvres, improving efficiency, with an average fuel consumption of 4.1 L/100km (Australian test standard).
For those looking for pure electric power, the Elettrica version uses a front-mounted 115kW (156 hp) electric motor with 260 Nm of torque, giving a WLTP range of up to 407km. The Junior Elettrica Veloce, the most efficient version, has a more powerful electric motor that produces around 207kW (280 hp) and 345 Nm of torque for better acceleration and sporty driving, including a Torsen limited-slip differential and a lower suspension setting. Both electric models drive the front wheels, while the Hybrid offers an optional Q4 all-wheel drive system that uses two electric motors to distribute the driving force.
2026 Alfa Romeo Junior : Safety
The Alfa Romeo Junior 2026 has a full suite of safety features and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), contributing to Level 2 autonomous driving capability, although it has yet to receive an official crash test safety rating from Euro NCAP or ANCAP. Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, road sign recognition with over-speed warning, and a 180-degree rear view camera with front, side, and rear parking sensors. The range also includes a driver drowsiness warning system, active parking assist, high beam assist for standard LED headlamps, and an emergency e-Call system, all designed to improve safety and convenience when driving on highways and cities.
