2027 Dodge Journey
The 2027 Dodge Journey is a midsize SUV produced by Dodge for the North American market. The 2027 Dodge Journey is a great option for families who need seven seats without the full size of a minivan. It was notable for its innovative storage solutions, such as the under-seat storage that can be used as a cooler and the “Flip ‘n Stow” front passenger seat.
The Dodge Journey offered a variety of engine options, including a powerful 3.6L Pentastar V6 and optional all-wheel drive. For the final model year of 2020, the lineup was significantly simplified, limited to a single front-wheel drive drivetrain paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. As part of a shift toward a more efficient brand, Dodge eventually discontinued the model, leaving behind a legacy as the most expensive three-row sedan of its time.
2027 Dodge Journey : Interior
Inside, the Dodge Journey’s interior is designed with family-oriented versatility in mind, offering standard seating for seven in its 124 cubic feet of passenger cabin space in later models. The layout includes arena-style seats to improve visibility for rear passengers; the second row features Tilt ‘n Slide technology for easy one-handed access to the third row. Material quality varies by trim level, from standard Strobe and Sedoso cloth to perforated Capri leather with perforated stitching. For added comfort, higher trim levels offer heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a three-zone automatic climate control system to ensure all passengers stay comfortable.
In addition to seating capacity, the Dodge Journey is known for its clever storage solutions, including two compartments under the second row that can be used as a waterproof cooler when it’s full of ice. Cargo capacity starts at 10.7 cubic feet behind the third row, but increases significantly to 67.6 cubic feet with both the second and third rows folded down. Technology features center around the 8.4-inch Uconnect system, which supports navigation in the new model year, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Families also benefit from unique features like an integrated second-row child booster seat for long trips and a roof-mounted rear entertainment system with a 9-inch screen.
2027 Dodge Journey : Engine
The Dodge Journey had two major engine choices that balanced fuel economy and efficiency. The base engine was a 2.4-liter 16-valve four-cylinder engine that produced 173 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque. For those who needed more power to hit the highway or carry all seven passengers, the 3.6-liter V6 engine, producing 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, was the most powerful in the class. While the four-cylinder engine was mated to an older four-speed automatic transmission, the V6 engine benefited from a modern six-speed automatic transmission, which provided smoother gear changes and better power delivery.
Driver configuration is closely related to these engine options and has a significant impact on the vehicle’s capabilities in different conditions. Four-cylinder models were front-wheel-drive only, emphasizing entry-level affordability. Conversely, the V6 engine could be paired with an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) system that automatically engages when it detects tire slippage to improve traction on snow or ice. However, as the Journey entered its final year of production in 2020, Dodge removed the V6 and AWD options before officially discontinuing the model, limiting the lineup to a four-cylinder engine and front-wheel-drive only.
2027 Dodge Journey : Safety
The Dodge Journey offers a basic safety package led by seven standard airbags, including driver knee airbags and side curtain airbags in all three rows. Its structural safety is bolstered by active front head restraints and electronic stability control with electronic rollover mitigation to help maintain driver control. While it does have a ParkView rearview camera and ParkSense rear park assist on higher trims, the Journey lacks many of the latest active driver-assist technologies like automatic emergency braking or lane-keep assist. In crash testing, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the 2027 Dodge Journey a top rating of good in most categories, although it did earn a poor rating in the smaller frontal crash test.
