The 2022 Volkswagen Taos is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by German carmaker Volkswagen. Taos offers a winning combination of value, technology and width that is unmatched by any other small SUV. The Volkswagen Taos 2022 model is a familiar example in the car business. Volkswagen will present the 2022 Taos in S, SE and SEL trim levels, each with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The front-wheel-drive versions have an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the all-wheel-drive Taos has a seven-speed two-clutch automatic, as well as a more sophisticated rear suspension that allows for easier handling around turns.
As a particular segment of automotive becomes more popular, manufacturers tend to enlarge and differentiate their records to make room for new models that fill new gaps in their composition. In the United States, VW’s range of SUVs includes the compact Tiguan, mid-size Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport and electric ID.4, so the increasingly popular small compact space Jeep Compass such a space was opened. , Kia Celtos and Subaru Crosstrek. It also helps that VW doesn’t offer Americans a simple TSI version of the latest Golf hatchback, which we’re still disappointed with. At least Taos is a mandatory small crossover on many fronts.
Styling combines a combination of elements from other VW SUVs. It has a body shape similar to the Tiguan and shares its X-shaped grille with the Atlas Cross Sport. Taos is immediately recognized as VW because of its proportions and minimalist appearance. The interior is conservatively furnished and black plastics are widely used throughout the control panel. The S is upgraded to a 6.5-inch multimedia display standard, while the SE and SEL are upgraded to an 8.0-inch touchscreen, which includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Accordingly, a wireless charging panel is also standard along with a large screen. This isn’t the only screen found in Taos: the 8.0-inch digital cockpit display is standard, while SEL has an even larger 10.3-inch display, which has more customization options.
2022 Volkswagen Taos : Interior
Inside, the all-new 2022 Volkswagen Taos is complementing its SUV range with a new model with a new level that provides more style, interior room and driving satisfaction than many competitors. The Taos is smaller and more affordable than the carmaker Tiguan, and its size and price can compete with the Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-30. Taos is impressive from the moment you sit down. All models of Taos are equipped with a standard digital instrument cluster, which can be configured to display a song played from the navigation system or your phone to the turn-by-turn directions via the integration of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto smartphones.
There are also nice-looking materials, spacious seats and cargo space for a small SUV. Overall, we think Volkswagen has an attractive SUV on hand. Compared to the Taos Tiguan stablemate, the cargo area is less complicated, but offers a much cheaper price. For more information on how our test team identified the strengths and weaknesses of Taos, see the Expert Rating below.
2022 Volkswagen Taos : Engine
The 2022 Taos is equipped with a new 1.5-liter turbo-4, which will ultimately change the 1.4-liter turbo-4 found in the Jetta. It produces 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque and is paired with an 8-speed automatic for FWD models or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with AWD. The engine looks a bit sluggish, but in Taos the driving quality is good and the steering wheel needs more weight. The AWD models are equipped with multi-link rear suspension, which helps them feel faster and happier while driving. Fuel saving figures are 31 combined MPG for FWD Taos and 28 combined MPG with AWD. Taos offers fuel economy for this class, but there is a big difference between the FWD and AWD models. We give Taos 28 mpg city, 36 trunk, 6 to save fuel, depending on the strength of EPA ratings of 31 FWD. AWD models drop to 25/32/28 mpg because of the difference in transmission and its weight is 255 pounds more.
2022 Volkswagen Taos : Safety
Compared to other vehicles in this class, standard safety features are rare, does not have active features that help the driver, but they can be added with the package. The Volkswagen Taos SE has a standard emergency brake system and also adds blind monitors. It is also available in three classes: parking-operated speed control, active road management and emergency assistance. 2022 Volkswagen Taos SE offers the best combination of technology and security features, the best combination for the AEB and blind spot monitors standard, but it also offers a unique security package to add the other security features mentioned above, with a rear stop sensor and an automatic dimmer rearview mirror.
