Next up is the optional 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel four-cylinder that produces a 181 hp low-speed engine, but makes it at 369 lb-ft of torque available only at 2,000-rpm. The diesel engine also gets the automation of the 8-automatic transmission, combined with the base V6.

Two types of V8 engines are offered; the only 6.0-liter Vortec gasoline engine produces 341 hp and 373 lb-ft of torque, and a powerful CNG / LPG version with solid valves and valve seats. The V8 option is obviously more powerful, but comes with a pull; it will suck your wallet thanks to its bad oil economy. The standard speed transmission is available as standard on the V8, while other engines do it with an eight-speed slicker. Higher drag rates stretch between 6,700 lbs and 9,200 lbs, aided by Savana’s strong RWD platform.
