The 2022 BMW X1 xDrive28i is a subcompact luxury SUV line produced by BMW. The BMW X1 2022 is the smallest off-roader in the BMW lineup under the BMW X3, targeting a wide range of buyers due to its small size, increased efficiency, and optional all-wheel drive (xDrive). The second-generation X1 BMW 2 Series marked the transition to a front-wheel-drive platform used in conjunction with the Active Tourer and Mini Countryman. Despite its name, it is currently the second smallest SUV produced by BMW since the X2 appeared.

The BMW X1 was the first generation model and incipiently presented as the BMW Concept X1 at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The X1 is the first BMW X series available in sDrive trim, was not introduced to the United States until 2012. In 2013, the E84 X1 made a facelift with a redesigned exterior and interior design elements, as well as integrating BMW Efficient Dynamics into all models.
