The first Audi S6 series was born in 1995 and develops two propulsion engines: a 4.2 liter and a special 2.2 liter turbo. The first was a large V8 engine fitted as standard with an automatic gearbox. Version 2.2 fitted a propeller derived from the Audi 100 but with a more resistant turbine with ducts with a maximum pressure up to 2.3 bar. The 5-cylinder engine in-line 20 electronic injection valves, delivered 235 hp and was matched to a 5-speed gearbox or optional 6-speed or 4-speed automatic. It also featured major innovations, only in the field of racing, such as hydraulic punches instead of mechanical ones, head pulse sensors, first-generation overboost triggered by a sensor under the accelerator pedal, cutoff device and liquid cooled turbocharger with intercooler.

The 2018 Audi S6 is the fourth generation S6 and shares its technology with the Audi S7. The vehicle is powered by a 4.0L V8 that delivers 420 hp and transmits it through a 7-speed S-Tronic dual-link automatic gearbox on all wheels. The engine uses cylinder shutdown to reduce fuel consumption and CO 2 emissions. The Audi S6 2018 competes with the BMW 550i and M550d and the Mercedes-Benz E500.

Compared to the Audi A6, the suspension was lowered by 10 mm, and the standard Servotronic system was added as a standard feature – the power assisted to the current speed. Both axles are equipped with ventilated brake discs, 321 mm (30 mm thick) brake discs coupled to Lucas HP2 2-piston calipers. On the rear axle were mounted discs with a diameter of 269 mm (22 mm thick) with a single-piston caliper. Brakes are equipped with ABS, brake assist and electronic brake force distribution EBD. Wheels are 17 “alloy wheels (Avus) with 255/40 ZR17 tires.
