The 2018 Audi S5 is a sports variant of the Audi A5 from Audi AG and after the Audi RS5 represents the highest engine and equipment level of this model series. On 2 June 2016, Audi presented the second generation of the Audi A5 and S5 Coupé in Ingolstadt. It has been available since July 2016. Audi S5 comes with a 4.2L V8 engine with 354 hp and a 0-100km/h acceleration of just 5.1 seconds and 3.0L V6T with 333 hp and an acceleration of 0-100 km/h of 5.4 s. The look of the Audi A5 and Audi S5 is not much different, except for the already recognizable double exhaust pipes.

Audi A5 and 2018 Audi S5 Sportback made their debut at the Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris in October 2016, to the dealers they arrive in early 2017. The first pictures of the S5 Cabrio version of the 2018 A5 and 2018 S5 were shown on November 4, 2016, Messepremiere has the vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in January 2017 in Detroit. The 2018 Audi S5 Cabriolet will arrive in March 2017 to dealers.

Italian designers have been the benchmark in automotive design for years and their “talent” is used by many luxury car brands such as Ferrari and Alfa Romeo. Therefore, natural that Audi turned to a designer from the region of Lombardy to draw the lines of the brand new sports GT coupe. This is Walter de’Silva, notably famous for being at the origin of the Alfa Romeo 156 and 147 “which marked the revival of the style of the Milanese mark” 2.

2018 Audi S5 Coupe

The 2018 Audi S5 Coupe features a 4.2 liter V8 atmospheric engine with direct fuel injection technology (FSI) and 32 valves. It delivers 354 horsepower and a torque of 440 N · m. The same engine is also fitted to other company models, such as A6, A8, and Audi Q7, with slightly reduced performance. Transmission is via a 6-speed manual gearbox or, optionally, via a 6-speed automatic transmission. As with all S-series models, the drive is transmitted to all four wheels. The final speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

The Cabrio version of the S5 was introduced in January 2009 at the Detroit International Motor Show. Although based on the coupe version, it mechanically differs from this. It has a V6 engine with two Roots mechanical compressors, also with direct fuel injection technology (TFSI) and 24 valves.

It delivers 333 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque. The engine is also fitted to the Audi S4. Ultimate speed, like the coupe, is electronically limited to 250 km / h. The drive is transmitted to all wheels through a new 7-speed semi-automatic twin-clutch gearbox called S-Tronic.

2018 Audi S5 Sportback

In September 2009, in Frankfurt, along with the Audi A5, the 5-door version of the Audi S5, called Audi Sportback, was presented in Frankfurt. Its technical characteristics are similar to those of the Cabriolet. The only difference is the reduced weight of 2018 Audi S5 Sportback (1,755 kg) and the best acceleration from stopping at 100 km/h (5,4 seconds).
