2017 Fiat 124 Spider is a monocoque, front-engine, rear drive 2+2 convertible sports car by Fiat.  Fiat 124 Spider is designed and developed by Italian Carrozzeria Pininfarina, the FIAT 124 Spider debuted at the November 1966 Turin Auto Show. Fiat later marketed the car as the 2000 Spider (1979-1982), and Pininfarina market the car at the end of its production as the Pininfarina Spider Azzura (1983-1985).

2017 Fiat 124 Spider sold in Europe and the US from its introduction to the model year 1975 when it was necessary to comply with new US regulations and no European version was produced. Sales resumed in Europe when Pininfarina took over production in 1983 under the name Pininfarina Spider Europe. In 2015 a successor of the Fiat 124 Spider was presented at the LA Auto Show.

The Fiat 124 Spider 2017, four-cylinder engine in the spider and coupe is a double overhead cam, aluminum cross flow head version of the sedan’s pushrod unit. It began in 1966 with a capacity of 1438 cc progressively increased to 1,608cc in 1970 in 1974, 1756cc, and finally in 1995 cc in 1979. The Fiat twin-cam engine design by Aurelio Lampredi. Bosch fuel injection replaced the previously used Weber carburetors halfway through 1980. In 1981 and 1982, Fiat USA, Inc. partnership with Legend Industries to create about 700 Turbo models for the American market.

This family of engines designed by former Ferrari chief engineer Aurelio Lampredi and stayed in one form or another in production in the 1990s gives it one of the longest production runs in automotive history. The double overhead cam (DOHC) version was reinforced rubber timing belts use the first mass produced DOHC, an innovation that would come in almost universal use in the decades after its introduction. This family drove race cars such as the Fiat 131 Mirafiori, 124 Special T Lancia Beta Monte Carlo, Delta Integrale and many others.
